How do I know that I'm spending money on the right areas in security?
Security is becoming increasingly complex as the number of applications and systems in use increases. Organisations typically provide
access to these applications and systems for internal employees, employees working remotely, contractors and trading partners.
This increases the number of access methods and the number of user types, further complicating the situation.
The security solutions market is evolving and new offerings are appearing. The completeness and ability to integrate these solutions
with existing infrastructure varies depending on the maturity of the offerings. Security software vendors are pushing customers to
adopt their solution now to avoid potential breaches.
This can result in organisations taking a piece meal approach to selecting and deploying security solutions. An integrated, extensible
approach to the problem is needed. This involves taking a step back from immediate pressures and taking the time to develop an
integrated plan. Security solutions represent a substantial investment in time and money and an integrated plan maps out when and
how these investments should be made.
