Mobile Data Project for the Land Transport Authority in Fiji
Land Transport Authority - Republic of Fiji. This project defined the development plans for the Land Transport Authority to develop
a wireless data access network for Police and Transport officials. Representing Queensland Transport the project consisted of:
• Identify interactions between the business and their employees, customers
and suppliers which are candidates for automation
• Prioritise these opportunities in terms of the potential business benefit they provide.
The focus is on identifying the relative merits of each opportunity rather than the absolute benefits
• analysing the Fijian requirement and mapping it to the Queensland mobile data project
• defining user requirements for the Land Transport Authority, Police and Municipal workers
• researching wireless service providers in Fiji
• eAnalysing the capabilities of
the Land Transport Authority staff
• reporting to the board on the project plan for the development and deployment.
A Regional Council – Advice on Regional Telecommunications needs of industry
The Regional City Council, in conjunction with the a State Department of Tourism, Industry and Small Business, engaged us to conduct
a scope study to evaluate the telecommunications needs of region and to determine the gaps in telecommunications infrastructure and
services. This study has now been completed and is expected to provide a framework that helps Council to determine the level of support
they give to local submissions for Networking the Nation funding.
A State Government combined Transport/Police online Service
A consultant was engaged as the project consultant for a project known as the Mobile Integrated Network Data Access (MINDA) project
advising on the use of mobile (pen-based) computers and mobile devices to enable enforcement officers (police and traffic management
and subsequently maritime enforcement) to check outstanding warrants on vehicles (and boats), unpaid fines and ownership details by
connecting to a number of separate applications systems in different agencies and jurisdictions simultaneously.
The project is ongoing. Responsibilities included:
• Identify interactions between the business and their employees, customers
and suppliers which are candidates for automation
• Prioritise these opportunities in terms of the potential business benefit they provide.
The focus is on identifying the relative merits of each opportunity rather than the absolute benefits
• evaluation of supplier offerings;
• advising on the extension of State Police Service and State Transport computing architectures to accommodate mobile (wireless)
technology
• advising on security issues and use of DES encryption
• evaluating user response to the new technology and its effect on job workflow; and, advising on mechanisms to minimise the effect
of the pilot on operational personnel
A Regional Telecommunications Carrier – eHealth
An consultant was seconded to a Regional Telecommunications Carrier eHealth solutions group on a 2 year contract to set up, run and
manage a sales and marketing team focussed on delivering a set of telecommunications based eCommerce transactions services into the
eHealth sector.
Regional Telecommunications Carrier – Innovations Division
Provided Consultancy advice and long term consulting to a Regional Telecommunications Carrier’s Innovation Division in the deployment
of their Managed E-Commerce services. This team of Consultants assisted the carrier over a period of 14 months in the launch of their
service and in the development of business opportunities with over 30 clients. We also undertook training of the Telco’s Enterprise
Division sales teams to help them identify and close opportunities for the deployment of eCommerce based services.
