UNIFIED PRIVILEGE, IDENTITY MANAGEMENT AND SECURE AUTHENTICATION
ICA offers a consultancy capability related to the design and implementation of unified access management, Identity Management,
Secure Authentication and access services. This consultancy capability is primarily provided to organisations that require a
whole of enterprise approach for web based applications but extended to legacy applications for such things as Identity Management,
common access control, single sign on and other such business objectives.
The consultancy service splits into four parts:
Business Requirements Analysis
In this step an integrated inventory of identity requirements are developed. This will typically require interviews with key
personnel to ensure an comprehensive list of requirements is determined.
Most implementations require:
| |
• an on-line forms package to provide access to managers throughout the organisation |
| |
• a workflow and provisioning engine that ensures all add, changes or deletions are properly authorised |
| |
• a directory synchronisation engine that copies data from authoritative data sources to dependent data repositories. |
Business Case Development & Presentation
The business case will clearly indicate the realisable benefits of proceeding with an identity and access management system.
Indicative costs will also be determined and a cost/benefits analysis will be constructed to allow management to make an informed
decision as to how best to proceed.
Vendors Scan and Detailed Review (including as necessary a Tender or Request for Tender process)
A market scan of identity and access management vendors will be constructed that will indicate the breadth of the industry,
the major system suppliers and the projected match between supplier capabilities and the organisation’s requirements.
A selection process consisting of a proof of concept to verify supplier claims, is typically undertaken.
At the end of the project the customer will clearly understand and have documented the business requirement, understands the
software available in the market-place and what it will deliver, understands the costs and the business case, the impact on
their business processes, the realistic benefits, the next steps and what it takes to deliver on the agreed business requirements
The primary reasons why a customer employs ICA are:
| |
• Vendor independence |
| |
• Understanding of the complex technical requirements and environments in delivering Single Sign On, RBAC
(Role Based Access Control) & Unified User Management |
| |
• Clear knowledge and experience in evaluating different vendor capabilities. |
